MGC Next-Generation Sequencing Service

Next-generation sequencing is performed on an Illumina MiSeq. The MiSeq is a personal sequencing platform that utilizes Illumina's TruSeq chemistry, and can produce results in hours instead of days. Amplification, sequencing, and data analysis are integrated into one instrument. Currently the maximum read length is 2x150 and the maximum output is 2.0Gb. In the future (expected 3rd quarter, 2012) the maximum read length will be 2x250 and the maximum output will be 7.0Gb. The following applications can be performed on the MiSeq:

  • Targeted Resequencing
    • Amplicons
    • Metagenomics (16S rRNA)
    • Clone checking
  • Small Genome Sequencing
  • RNA Sequencing
    • Small RNA sequencing
    • RNA-Seq
  • Library QC
  • Regulation
    • ChIP-Seq
  • Methylated DNA Resequencing
